The two
chromatograms shown above right illustrate the TID's extreme selectivity.
The top chromatogram is 1ppm of pentachlorophenol detected by the TID detector.
The bottom chromatogram shows the FID response to the same sample which
had large amounts of diesel range organics. The TID clearly has little
or no response to the hydrocarbons.
